Alan Brown's picture

Dancing in the storm

Yet another example of an ICM image taken amidst a snowstorm.
I am strangely drawn to this image, suggesting barely the essence of treeline set against a backdrop of falling snow.

I am expecting a mixed reaction to this, so please feel free to provide what comments you see fit. The primary objective is to generate (respected) discussion - there can be no right or wrong opinions.

Nice Alan i could see this being printed huge.

Thanks Joe - nice hearing from you. if only I had a huge printer!

You may well be surprised, Alan, but I really like this one! I haven't worked out why I like some of these technical disasters of yours, & not others. ;-)

This one has a dynamism, a suggestion for me of the irrepressibility of the life force, of the trees' struggle to keep growing whatever Nature throws at them.

I guess it's like a quickly dashed-off, spontaneous charcoal sketch - maybe what you'd produce if you found representing yourself in other 2D art media easier than you claim. I'd like to see your "stick figures" if you did any. Wouldn't be surprised if they were more Giacometti than kindergarten.

Keep pushing your envelope, and entertaining us!

Hey Chris, I always look forward to your educated analyses, more so when you actually enjoy the image!

I feel we have been on a path of growth together - me working on figuring out what works and what doesn't in this genre (isn't that what experimentation is all about?), and you overcoming your phobia of anything that didn't originate from the top of a tripod :-).

Seriously though, I ALWAYS look forward to you feedback whether positive or not, and respect your opinion even in disagreement.

Thanks, Alan! I enjoy our banter. I took a handheld photo once. Remember it well. Keep up the good work. Always look forward to your latest, and what fresh insults that might inspire! ;-)
