I'll be honest Hunter I'm not sure what I think about these. I didn't want to go too long without responding but I'm still mulling these around.
I follow Jordi.Koalitic on YouTube (https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC-Md_S_A6VcSJiAhStZCKbw) and he did something like this. He cut shapes in paper, taped it to the lens and took shaped bokeh. An old trick but he takes stuff to a crazy great level. I can't find the exact video but it is worth looking through his stuff. He is amazing and I'm looking forward to trying some of his tricks.
