B&W or color?

I'm going through all my digital photos and I'm starting with my old P&S ones for now.

My answer would depend on what it is you want to say with the photo. What does it mean to you?

The purpose of editing is to enhance the photo but if we don't know what your objective is for the photo how do we know if our suggestion is enhancing or detracting?

I guess I'm just asking for people's visceral, visual response. I'm not so sure about either - the starkness of the b&w versus the slight color giving that photo a bit of life. Having just written that, probably the color.

maybe even exaggerate the color a bit, and go sepia ?

I find colors amazing which is why I try to make my photos as accurate as possible. I try not to exaggerate. I love subtlety and sublime.

Definitely color.

For me the color adds a little more variety in tones and hence interest.
I tried playing with the composition somewhat to try and minimize distractions. Not sure if it is any better or suits your objectives but something to use as a comparison.

I find my original more interesting. You see the "path" leading up to and away from the faucet(?) So it implies people coming and going. I also like all the different shades of the three colors. Your edit does look a bit like a face though.

Thanks Charles. I was wondering what that (faucet) was. I have to agree that the cropping isn't great.

I assumed - I took a closer look. It's not a faucet but it seems to be a horn. I took the photo from the window of a train. It's a grain storage shed where I think they load the grain onto train cars.

COLOUR !! for given frames.

The grey tones create a more powerful image in this composition. Good work.

Thx.

B&W is better. I like the contrast in that photo and the minimalism is quite good

Thanks.
