Hi D Man,
Interesting shots here! Im struggling with the first one though. I think it needs greater DOF and less exposure maybe? I have not had great luck with these types of images though I have tried many times. The inside of a forest is so busy that it is hard to get a nice composition going. I hope you post more as I'd love to explore making this type of image work. I think your second image is more successful as the contrast and DOF work better here.
