Nice! I saw the thumb and was thinking of the "wet paint" abstracts people do; love it.

(Sorry I haven't been around much, some stuff going on. Ugh.)

Hi Ruth. I really love these abstracts! How on earth do you get the paint to do that..?! What paint do you use? Do you pour into another liquid medium? Intrigued and delighted!

Actually, you set me thinking...
It seems much of your work is heavily process-based, using coloured liquid media (inks, paints) and allowing or causing them to interact with each other and the receiving liquid medium, which appears to be of a different density or chemical composition. The apparent ‘randomness’ isn’t really random, it’s a function of material physics. The generated artworks are strongly suggestive of natural landscape generation processes, seen from above (plan view) in the case of the abstract paintings an in side elevation in the case of the ink works. This suggests to me that there is a third dimension to be explored here, although it would require 3D software and virtual cameras. The paintings could readily lend themselves to 3D mapping and contoured surface generation, whilst keeping their unique characteristic forms. Fantastical landscapes could thus be created, entered, explored and virtually ‘re-photographed’ as a next stage in the creative process. The possibilities would be endless! Think colourful ‘mountainscapes’ or estuaries - perhaps populated by funky ‘ink-mushroom’ style flora..!
Must have been some of those mushrooms in my breakfast..! 😳

I see the wolves attacking.
