I recently started a new project shooting into fire. Springtime is burning time in rural Montana and figured to bring along my camera to the party. This image is the result of shooting into the remains of smoldering slash pile.
Looking for feedback on the image's darkness, is the main-subject(s) obvious to a new viewer, and whatever fresh eyes notice.
Thanks in advance.
Good idea. I think it's great. It looks like two dragons in there. (Did you manipulate it a bit to add the eyes?) Though I'd be a bit worried about soot and ash getting into the camera and lens - but that's me.
Hey Charles, on the eye of the left of center dragon I burned in the pupil, on the dragon on the lower right I clone stamped the fire's glow and burn in the pupils. After posting this pic, I realized the lower right dragon looked like he was wearing eyeliner so I removed the darker edges.
I'm not too worried about shooting around fire, but it helps that this was taken with a 300mm lens, so I did have a little distance between camera and fire.
I suspected it was a little too perfect to be true... but ya never know! lol
Clever work John, looks much better when enlarged and those well-crafted eyes can be appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing more.
