For once, I'm stuck for words, Hunter! They both evoke a strong mood, especially the first one, but I'm buggered if I can put it into words. Soft? Yes. Sad? Gloomy? No, not that. Sombre, perhaps, but not unhappy. I do prefer the first, the blue's intensity overpowering the second one's effect.
You certainly have your own refreshingly unique approach, especially to massaging an image to very different final effects.
Thanks! :) I actually created these to express very complex feelings, and, your guess is almost identical to what I intended! I agree with the blue affecting the expression, but I sorta don't know how :D
Thanks for posting Hunter.
My immediate reaction is that the first is very atmospheric, and strong in that respect.
The second strips away the emotion for me, perhaps more abstract but less compelling.
Now reading other comments it seems we are in agreement on the blue. I'd be interested to see the effect if you dialed back the blue, played with hue etc so the color is not such a dominating element.

I think the blue is simply too intense for me, Hunter.

Agree.
