As has been mentioned many times previously, most of the photographs I make are while Harry and I do our daily walk around the neighborhood. Not much changes from day to day. The weather, the seasons (is that the same thing?), and little else. As I transitioned from being a traditional street photographer (no point in mentioning why yet again,) I began to pay attention to smaller details underfoot. In fact, I mounted an exhibit in Chautauqua, NY called "Details Underfoot" in 2018. Lately, I've been focusing on the water valves in front of every house in the neighborhood. These houses were all built by the same builder over a six-year span. I'm guessing but I expect the same plumbing contractor did them all. And yet there are at least four different brands of valves. Some of them are surrounded by PVC and some of them are not. It appears that some of the concrete has been repaired/replaced (mine was) even though it was all originally to the same specification. Some are recessed, some sit slightly above the surface and get smacked by snowblowers. In other words, there is more variation than I would have thought until I looked. Many things are like that.
