Hi William. I've been meaning to get to this for a few days, apologies for that.
I think the interplay between the strong horizontal and curved lines, coupled with such high contrast has great potential. I think you have done great spotting this and processing with this idea in mind.
I personally feel the area at the bottom distracts from the composition and would consider cropping that out. I have tried a couple of crops that better suit my own taste (the 2nd has better balance for me) but I think there are likely other crops that may work better (perhaps especially for your own taste) if you wanted to play with it.
Well spotted William, and I definitely like where you are going with this.
BTW - it may work better with a black border when viewed against the white online background.
Thanks Alan. I’ve been laid low with COVID for the last few weeks and haven’t been following anything much. Thanks so much for taking time to review this image. For me this image was all about the occasional serendipity of good positioning when the shot is taken (I’m often one of those that’s nearly getting run over or falling off buildings to get a good shot!)
I think your point is a good one and agree that your second crop is the better of the two. I thought, when framing and processing this shot that there is/could be something of a yin-yang relationship between the light and dark; the mass and the air..?
