Like others I feel I have been a little tardy in engaging in discussions on the group. The fact is, the attraction diminishes when visits are welcomed by lack of activity, and the only way the group can survive is if members engage and show a willingness to participate.
I feel this group has always been an advocate for photographers who wish to experiment and grow their art, and the past has proved we are a community that helps one another.
I ask that we all try to maintain that spirit- remain open to posting your work, remain open to accepting helpful feedback, and also remain open to commenting on the posts of others (in a respectful manner).
There are no experts in this group, egos are not allowed. Posts and comments from all are viewed equally, whether they be from a seasoned veteran, a published artist or the enthusiast who has only just discovered the joy of taking photographs.
Your input counts - as always there is no such thing as an incorrect option so please consider allowing the group to both view your work and hear your voice. Discussions are open - you may choose to post an image for review, or simply pose questions to other members etc. The goal is to keep us all engaged in the hobby we love.
I plan to post some experimental work soon and will plan to do a better job at keeping up with posts.
If anyone has recommendations for new discussions that they do not feel comfortable publishing themselves please feel free to DM me.
Alan
I assume here that you are simply referring to interactions and not just posting photos. I could post a lot of photos here. As for commenting, I generally do if a good photo can be made better but otherwise I leave the rest alone. I'm glad to see others'. Also, this group in comparison to other groups on Fstoppers is highly participatory.
Thanks Charles - yes it is interactions I am most concerned about. I fear that some may not interact as they feel others may not be willing to return the favor when they post.
It's good to hear that you continue to participate, your comments of any nature are always welcomed (and remind us that you are there!).
I have one more college Final exam on Sunday and I will be receiving two degrees: one in Network Administration and the second in Cybersecurity.
THEN...I will have a bit of free time for left brain action, such as this photo from two days ago.
Thanks for posting and good luck with the exams Dean. Having only just retired from a long career in IT I am sure your credentials will put you in high demand.
I like the way your image plays the fragile paper-thin texture of the garlic bulb against the strong and weathered hands of the person that grew it (whether true or not....).
Looking forward to seeing more from you once you have graduated.
The final assignment in one class involved picking a job in the Cybersecurity field and write a five-year plan on how to get the job.
It was difficult... as five years from now I will be well into my 70's and seriously NOT working 9 to 5. 🤣
Thanks Alan! I've been gone for awhile, but checked in this morning and read your message. The other night I was sitting outside with my camera after a walk and was about to put it away when I remembered YOU and your intentional camera movement images. I decided to give it a try at night. I'll post a few. Not as beautiful as yours, but the experimenting was really fascinating - amount of time, holding still for certain sections to bring out color or textures, etc. Thanks for the inspiration. I look forward to experimenting more in the future.
That sounds great Jennifer. I really like the set you posted, and there is much fun to be had exploring all the ICM opportunities.
Feel free to contact me if I can help you in any way - you can also check my website blog (https://www.alanbrownphotography.com/blog/category/Influencers) if you want to check out some of the work that has influenced me.
Thank you, Alan! I appreciate your help. I checked out your blog and it's bookmarked in my daily folder; so I'll be checking back often. Also I'm amazed by those influencers you linked to. Thanks for a starting spot!
