Well, really rare for me.
A long time ago I figured out that our eyesight is, at least partially due to the horizontal orientation of our eyes, landscape rather than portrait. A lot of photography in the old days had to do with the portrait orientation of Life magazine et al and more recently cell phones. This is not necessarily good or bad, it just is. Anyway, there is my philosophical analysis (excuse?).
Consequentially, since I quit photographing for publication many years ago, I have taken very few vertically oriented photographs, instead choosing to include more space, potentially irrelevant and distracting, to the sides to force a horizontal layout. As Chief Dan George said in Little Big Man, "Some days the magic works, and some days it doesn't."
Or, as Theodore Sturgeon once said in a completely different context, "Ninety percent of everything is crap."
While this is a vertical construct, all the individual pieces started out as horizontal images.

Hi Andrew, I must say tat I enjoy seeing how you are using layers to build images. That certainly has an interesting effect.
