Street Photography

The houses in my development are 30-35 years old so we all have had to do significant driveway maintenance by now. I resurfaced mine three years ago.

A month ago one of my neighbors made a deal to resurface his driveway and got a special price based on his bringing in ten or more other homeowners, at which he was eventually successful. Two weeks ago the work was finished. This contractor made a mess of it. The driveways all look fine, but the adjoining sidewalks and streets show the result of spilled asphalt.

Photo #1 shows Harry examing an asphalt smiley face in the middle of my street around the corner from me. #2 and #3 are an attempt to make something positive out of the mess. The last image shows what a muddled mess large parts of the street are.

Without the explanation, you might think of them as abstractions. So far the only one I like enough to print is the one with Harry.

This is neat, Andrew! Especially taking something annoying and seeing something artistic in it. I like the minimalism of Harry looking at the smiley face in #1. I wonder how the other three would look in black and white with heightened contrast? #3 looks like a zipper zipping up the road, by the way. Lol! Hope you are well and staying cool! It is H O T out there!
