Poor Timing

Yesterday Harry and I did our usual rounds of the neighborhood a bit early as we saw a report that a thunderstorm was coming. The first image was done about a third of the way. The second is about halfway, giving me a fair warning. We did not make it home without getting soaked (poor timing on my part,) which he minded less than I did. Harry still stopped at every tree, slightly protected from the weather, to sniff and mark his presence. The final image is from my front door while it was still coming down cats and ...

The first two are really dramatic images, Andrew. I think the layers and outlining only add to the drama. The colors are really beautiful too. The last one is interesting because even in the grayness of the rain, you captured lovely, colors! Hope you're dried out now - Lol! Not sure if I'm getting wetter during our walks from the rain or the humidity these days!

I really love the first two shots but is it possible to see them without the red lines? I think that they really distract.

The red lines surround the edges of the merged layers. everything outside the lines is content-aware fill. Sometimes I make the line (not always or necessarily red) before the fill and sometimes after. If I do it before, the color of the line smears into the fill area. Anyway, I find it useful to segregate what is "real" from the fill.

FYI, this is not the common use case for content-aware fill. The top article on Fstoppers right now illustrates a more usual application.

It's good to see you pushing the envelope on this Andrew. The results do have a certain interest about them.
