Motion: Butterflies

July's theme, Motion.

Had my shutter set lower then I thought and didn't realize till after this brief encounter. I feel the photos are still a success showing just enough motion while freezing the environment.

z7ii, f/8.0, 1/125s, 500mm, iso 64 +CPL Filter. The CPL dose wonders for foliage under this direct-harsh-noon light.

Nice work. When I try this style the creatures never cooperate...perhaps they are camera shy around where I live.

I do spend some time standing around which can be quite awkward with my camera in hand and other hikers walking by... I just say.. don't worry I'm just shooting butterflies! I use a 200-500mm lens and sometimes in crop mode to hit 750mm.. So I do not have to get all that close at all. These were 500mm at 1/125s, which in and of itself is quite a feet for that focal length and having no blur in the environment. 🙂

I absolutely love the last one !

Like others I think #8 is a knockout.

Timing/luck is so important. #1 & #2 don't work for me as they lose the form of the butterfly in motion.

#4 is great, though I think I'd see a tighter crop to make the butterflies more of the main attraction.

Well done Joe!

Thank you very much Alan, I agree completely with your feedback. 🙂🦋
