Charles Mercier's picture

My name is mud

I've seen layers of mud curl up like this before but never as much as this.

Interesting Charles. Mud, sand and dirt are favorite subjects of mine. I think you could even get a tighter crop on this to emphasize the shapes for a cool abstract. Hope you don't mind that I made an example. I really like the image and your eye for the interesting.

Thanks! Yeah, I could do so many variations of all the photos I took. (See comment below.)

Love all.of.these

thanks!

At first I thought this was curled leaves! So fascinating (and beautiful) that it's mud. This is a great image, Charles. I love the texture and contrast of light. I like the crop the way it is, but I also see Ruth's point to emphasize patterns or specifically interesting textures. Both work for me! Thanks for sharing this. It was really interesting.

Are you sure it's not chocolate?

I love how you worked the lighting to emphasize the peeling effect. Great job!

LOL! That is funny, Dean. It really could pass for chocolate. Especially Ruth's crop.

Thanks, Dean. It was such a great sunset angle that when I saw it, I had to come back the next day at the same time hoping some kids didn't ride all over it and destroy it. I took over 20 photos and could probably do several dozens of versions. Here's another.

Awesome!

I love your alternatives you posted here, Charles. I think I like them better than the original! I like the added depth.

Me too!

Looks like a satellite image of a far off planet. I won't what it would look like if the Sun was a F or K type star?
