Ruth Carll's picture

What do you see?

I joined a contest earlier today themed mirroring. You could put in 4 images. Even though the abstract nature of these probably hinders the vote, it's just for fun and I can't get away from abstracts! So.... See anything in these?

These are a pleasure to look at, Ruth. You did excellent work with reflecting them.

#1 is the hollowed out remains of a butterfly
#2 is a spider that wouldn't be so bad to come upon
#3 is the silhouette of a very tall, slender, solemn man walking into and separating two flowers
#4 is finding a perfectly matched lover (it emanates fulfillment)

Hope you win the contest with these beauts! Also thanks for a fun exercise.

I love that you told us what you see. I look at them anew and see different things now. Thank you!!!

Oh so Colorful!

1. “Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

Jabberwocky
by Lewis Carroll

2. "A spider sewed at night
Without a light
Upon an arc of white.
If ruff it was of dame
Or shroud of gnome,
Himself, himself inform."

The Spider
by Emily Dickinson

3. "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter."

Warning
by Jenny Joseph

4. "The sun shone as brightly and warmly upon her as upon the large and beautiful garden flowers, so the daisy grew from hour to hour. Every morning she unfolded her little white petals, like shining rays round the little golden sun in the center of the flower."

The Daisy
by Hans Christian Andersen.

NOTE: I have a degree in English, Cybersecurity, Network Administration and it is my English degree that I cherish the most!

OMG! This is one of the most enjoyable posts I've read! THANK YOU! I will have to periodically post more of these as a challenge for you and treat for us!!!

Ha, I can see the attraction of English over the chaotic 1's & 0's of the world (a world in which I lived in myself for many years...).

BTW - did you know there are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those that don't?

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world,

Those who know binary, those who don't, and those who expected this to be in base 3

I see...
1) a hockey goalie mask
2) a crab
3) two parrot heads facing each other
4) a mantis face

Chris - also butterflies (old joke)

Oops, late to the party. Great photos! The second does look like a spider. The third looks like someone peering through an opening with their purple gloves. The last one though, isn't close to the first three.
