I decided to try something I have never seen before with pinhole photography. It doesn't mean it hasn't been tried before....I just haven't seen any examples of it.
I setup my R5 on the tripod and attached two extension tubes (18mm + 11mm), then an RF to EF adapter and finally a pinhole body cap.
I took three photographs and merged.
Because the pinhole is further from the sensor, this creates a telephoto effect without the use of a telephoto lens.
The distance from the sensor is approximately 76mm and the diameter of the pinhole is 0.255mm.
So 76/0.255 , so this would be an F-Stop about f/298.
f/298 ~ 8 Seconds ~ ISO 160 ~ 76mm
Please let me know if I have an understanding of photography and math!
Setup
This photo turned out really neat. It kind of has the feel of an old photo that's been color enhanced. I'm really enjoying reading these pinhole camera experiments.
That f/stop is amazing ... have you created the smallest aperture photo ever? Lol!
The image reminds me of driving along the Schuykill River on 76 in Philadelphia as a kid.
Hope you're having a great holiday season!
Black & White version
What a complex idea Dean, and well done with the math. How on earth did you measure the pinhole size? 1/4mm is pretty darn small.
Thanks for creating new ideas and willingness to share with others.
I threw a few bucks towards New York and apparently B&H Photo found it. In thanks they gave me this:
