This is very beautiful, P K. I love the hint of clouds/light in the sky as well as the contrasts in the sea. My first thought when I looked at it was the poem Annabel Lee.
Thanks Jennifer. I spent a few, cold, hours out there taking a number of photos over time but this one was a bit different to the others with the dark patch in the mid-foreground. The rest were more like below, which I felt was less dramatic.
This one is beautiful too, but in a different way. You're right about the dark patch in the center of the originally posted one adding drama. So are these in black and white or color? At first I assumed BW, but looking more closely is making me think they're in color?
"And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling—my darling—my life and my bride,
In her sepulchre there by the sea—
In her tomb by the sounding sea."
I haven't read that poem for at least 40 years, back in college.
Yeah, to be fair the sky is rather dull. I wouldn't replace it with a different sky because that's just not photography for me, I would consider trying again and again until the conditions are optimal - except in this case the location is around a 4-hour drive away.

They are colour but pretty much monochromatic.

Thank you Jennifer the Wise.
Don't forget to take out and blow off the rest of the "trilogy" - The Bells and The Raven too. They complement each other.
Wise by marriage only. Lol!
Once upon a sofa dreary I plopped down so weak and weary,
Overcome by incessant yapping, ever flapping lips of Elinore.
Quote the Raven: "What a bore."
Heehee! You crack me up!
Cool. Though I prefer just the bottom halves - which rather remind me of Rothko paintings.

Me too. I'm part of the f64 Club. I really don't care for sky replacement photos. I try to make my photos as accurate to what I see as possible.
