I was fortunate to get a calm evening out at location that is usually very windy and difficult to fly my drone. I had this shot in my head for close to a year, and I decided to see what the beta update for photoshop would do and if it would help streamline the editing process for this image.
Boy did it ever. The Removing of the land and trees in the shot was effortless. hardly any fine detail blending needed to be done on the edited sections and it did in second what had taken me hours at time to get right.
The image is a blend of 10 time lapse shots and 2 blends for highlights. all removed content was does with generative fill with two selections needing to be blended better. One being shadowing center right of the frame around the trees and the other being the section of land and trees left side of the farm.
Frankly, the first image is so much better. Though the upper right of the sky is a bit bland.
This is really fascinating, Ian. I enjoyed reading your process and seeing the result. I can't believe how well PS held up to your test. Thanks for posting for the rest of us.
Thanks for posting your experience with generative fill Ian. I think the more members test new features and pass on their experiences the better it is for all.
You experiment did push the system and end up with interesting results.
As an FYI - I did some very basic testing myself recently and included results in a blog entry;

You're welcome, Alan. I am blown away at the ability to remove objects. It has removed hours of work on selections and instantly streamlined my workflow.
I dig it.
