Dinner is overrated when there are photo-op's

While spending a couple days at Diamond Lake (near Crater Lake, OR) my wife and I were waiting at the restaurant to be seated. Plenty of tables open, but sorry this section is closed, so just wait.

I looked out the window admiring the mist raising off the fog and noticed it started snowing. Yeah, almost Summer Solstice and it's snowing.

We went back to the room and my wife grabbed her book and sat down to read while I chose to grab my camera.

Dinner is overrated when there are photo-op's.

I was attracted to the outcrop of the land with the bench as a minimalist photo.

It's still June, but might this be what they mean by "Christmas in July?"

A good shot! It conveys some mysterious, uncomfortable mood, no matter if it is summer or winter. The mist hides the season, and it's the salt in the soup.

Excellent work Dean, thanks for sharing. My son has been in OR for some time and the weather there has been kind of crazy.

I love the minimalistic, moody image you have captured. The fog rising off the water adds that extra dimension of mystery.

Thanks for posting and to all members who have contributed with comments.

For the past five years or so it has been difficult for landscape photography in Oregon from August through October due to wild fires. It can be difficult getting your scheduling late enough in the year so the roads are open, but early enough to avoid wildfire and the lingering smoke.

Our town was evacuated three years ago because of the threat.

The wildfire was about 300 miles (380 Km) away for this photograph.
