Subway experimentation

Visiting family in NYC I once again left my DSLR at home. Our schedule was pretty packed and alone time with the camera was not much of an option.

However, I did scope out locations for a future visit and was able to experiment with the iPhone as we traveled around the city,

These are shots taken in the subway. I discovered that the 'Live' option can be used to great effect when shooting moving objects.

In some shots I attempted to shoot through the windows of a passing train to capture activity on the opposite platform. With Live mode taking a series of shots I was able to edit and scroll though images picking any worthy of further processing. This really is a handy feature and helps immensely in such low percentage scenarios.

The images may not be first class, but as a first attempt I'm pretty pleased with the initial results.

Thoughts?

A good short story onn public transportation. I like it!

These are great compositions! The stories are fantastic then mixed with your various perspectives, framing, lines, form, and even color is just a treat .... Good idea with the Live mode and using it to capture with the train moving by. Your experiments with your phone have been so fascinating for me. I am very slowly starting to use my Samsung's camera lately - very slowly.

Thanks Jen. Experimenting with your mobile carries zero risk and is always available.
The hardest part is getting your mind to view your phone as you would any other camera and not simply something to capture selfies and snapshots.

Great shots! Looks like you've identified some fertile ground for a series. The phone camera as capture device becomes part of the visual language/methodology.

Thanks William, I really appreciate your feedback.
