Day-Trippin

We took a day trip to Cape May, NJ, on Thursday. Harry was disappointed he did not get to go along, but it was fairly hot and we really did not know where he would be allowed or not allowed. He's good in the car, but in the ten years he's graced us with his presence, he's never been on a trip anywhere near this long (at least two hours each way.)

The post-processing on all of these involved multiple layers and careful application of generative fill. Even though I know where these edits happened, I cannot see them.

#1. There was part of a window showing on the side of the garage. Using generative fill was much easier than cloning it out.
#2. The original raw (NEF) file was cut off on the right mid-umbrella. Generative expansion to the rescue.
#3. The original raw (NEF) image included someone's head and the top of an umbrella on the bottom of the frame. This is about 1/3 of the original image.
#4. The original raw (NEF) file was framed way too close to the upper parasailer and did not include nearly enough room on the right. Generative expansion to the rescue again.

FYI, I shot all of these with my hand-held Nikon D850 and a Nikkor 80-400mm lens at 400mm. The garage image was shot from a moving car at about 50mph.

Thanks for sharing Andrew.

I do feel that GF can be a game changer and recover images that would otherwise be discarded.

WOW! I am impressed, Andrew. I still haven't had time to play around with GF. Thank you for explaining each photo. That was a big help. Hope Harry was well in your absence and the reunion was sweet!
