Thanks Charles. Here is a file that is close to the original raw file. I guess the crop and edit made the koi appear to be on top of the ripples. I never considered that perspective until you pointed it out...now i see it.
That's interesting. I actually love the colors but I can see though that there really are too many overlapping elements. You did choose the most interesting parts.
1). The angling of the ripples and subject is perfect.
2). The soft ripple texture vs the almost metallic texture of the koi works so well.
3). The koi on the dark background vs the light on top of the ripples is just right.
4). The black/white is excellent!

Looking at the original you truly captured the best. The final crop is definitely framable. You’ve inspired me to start taking shots of my koi again to see what I may come up with. Thank you.

Lovely shot Marcus, it works well in B&W. The ripples really act as a counterweight and balance the image.
