Hey!
First of all... This is my first post so I'll introduce myself first!
My name is Kike, 35yo, from Spain.
I started to be interested in photography last summer, it's never too late, what catches my attention the most is close-ups (with a tamron 90 for canon on my sony 6000 hahah) and nature photography. Always with a minimalist perspective, or at least that's what it seems to me.
so I'm looking forward to learning with you!
My first question is... ignoring the fact that it is a little out of focus, do you like it better with the greenish tone in the background or without it? My friends say I tend to make photos too dark.
And it is true that I tend to desaturate and darken them. I take the photographs for myself, but we all like others to like them too!
Any constructive criticism is really very welcome, Im here to learn!
Greetings.
Hello Kike! Nice to meet you. I enjoyed viewing your gallery ... for starters, I like without the greenish background. The greenish background doesn't allow the subject to stand out as much. As for your photos being too dark/desaturated ... I think you should find your niche. If you brighten/saturate your photos more, the dark/desaturated audience will say they're too bright and saturated. Personally I gravitate toward dark/desaturated photos. For myself, I would've chosen your second photo and probably would brighten the subject slightly. Great job! Hope all is well in your part of the world!
Thanks so much for the feedback!
Nice idea to give some bright tonthe subject, If Im noob at photography....you cant imagine my little skills on post processing! Jajaha
Im currently using C1, but will give a try to lightroom.
Practice, practice and practice!
Thanks again!
Hi Kike, welcome to the group! First off, thanks for feeling comfortable enough to post - we have a great community within this group, and all are more than willing to be help others.
Secondly, you will never feel fulfilled if needing to seek approval from others. The most important thing is for you yourself to enjoy your images - everyone has different tastes so if you can't please yourself you have failed (professional photographers excluded of course as it's always what the client wants).
I really don't see too much of a difference between the two images, so whatever suits your own taste is the one that is the best.
I do feel you will find value within this group and hope to see you participating further - not just posting but feeding back your (valued) opinion within other discussions.
You may be new to photography, but you have a set of eyes and we respect/learn from all viewpoints here.
Your gallery shows promise, just keep shooting and making sure you enjoy the process.
Hi!
Thanks for taking time to answer!
Im pretty sure I'll learn a lot with you all...and will try to give my unexperienced point of view for sure! Hahha
PD: So awesome portfolio!! Wow
Thanks for your kind words Kike.
I feel the opinions of non-veterans is important. Viewpoints such as your own tend to be purer and less influenced by technicalities and years of following traditional rules.
Nice. I like the fact that it isn't perfectly centered and that it doesn't have a perfectly even background. I prefer it without the greenish cast. That gives it more depth/a three dimensional effect.
Thank you!
I like to give some free empty space on side in the pics....obviously sometimes I center the composition but Its not my "allways go".
Thanks again for your opinion!
Hi Kike Pumar ,
Regarding this post and discussion, "here and now", I like the greenish colour grading of the frame. Going a little deeper if that is the intension, subtle greener wash sets the mood speaking about the hero element of the frame in this story.
Seen your work and connect to your clarity of thoughts. cheers.
Thank you Vijay!
Yes, that was exactly the intention making a greenish background!
Thanks for your words.
