As suggested by Charles, this month's challenge is to create & post images where a key ingredient is shadow content.
This shadow content could be in the form of the primary subject, creating negative space to highlight a subject, or perhaps used as leading lines.
Don't be concerned about having to fit in with our group Minimalism, Abstract, Experimental goals - this is simply to challenge members to push themselves and offer up images for discussion.
I have included some examples just to stimulate the brain cells, and can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
Nice photos! Third one though, I feel should be cropped somewhat above her head.
Thanks Charles, I tend to agree on your suggested edit. Here's a quick adjustment before I work on a final edit.
I do think that's much better! Nice!
I agree - thanks for the suggestion!
Great idea! I have to admit I'm one to stay away from shadows mostly because I do a lot of portraiture (eek contrasts!); so I don't have any experience with them. I do love the effect though. Your challenge is going to make me look out for opportunities this month.
By the way, I will always love that last one! So perfect.
Thanks Jenny. Hey when you have horrid blue skies to work with shadows always provide an option, especially early/late in the day.
I'd like to be able to photograph like Trent Parke.
Wouldn't we all!
Happy to kick in with a couple of submissions. :)
Hey, thanks for engaging and welcome to the group. Your images certainly capture the theme - I look forward to more from you.
