Kousa Dogwood berry

Not sure if this is a perfect fit for the group, but this is a focus stack of a Kousa Dogwood berry, they're a little bigger than a sugar cube. I actually took it before it was fully ripe because I like how the green/yellow adds some visual contrast as they become fully red when ripe. I enjoy macro partially because it tends to make the familiar seem strange and new

Are these the edible variety? They do photograph well. Good job.

Thank you! I’m not sure enough that these are edible to try one

Hello Steven! I love this kind of photography. My favorite thing to do is to closely focus on the familiar to show its actual unfamiliarity ... and overlooked beauty. Unfortunately my time is always filled up in other ways. This photo is a reminder for me. The lighting is lovely, the color contrast is just right, and the focus stacking was perfect for showing all the texture throughout. Great photo! I caught your photo of a clover on your profile. They are in such abundance around here in the summer. I have always wanted to capture one in just the right way. Yours is lovely. One of these summers for me.

Thank you so much! The clover shot was fun for me because I discovered a lot more detail than I knew they had!

Hi Steven, and thanks for posting. Was this taken indoors? My experience of focus stacking outdoors has been met with the frustration of the subject moving in even the slightest of breezes.

Lovely job all round. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you, and would love to hear your thoughts on other posts.

Yup, this was indoors with artificial light. One trick I've found with dealing with movement in outdoor stacking is to shoot a little wider and trim the images to align better. But it's only practical with a small stack
