More experimentation with motion blur

Following on from my trip to NYC a few weeks back the wife and I took the opportunity to visit our son for weekend and to take in the Christmas vibe.

Although kept busy I did pull the iPhone out to further my experimentation into capturing New Yorkers in motion.

This time there is a focus on evening shots. Luckily (??) it rained a lot so the trigger of umbrellas was once again utilized, with reflections of light on wet city streets adding an extra dimension.

I fully expect a niche/narrow liking for these shots (we can't ALL have good taste ;-) ), but if anyone has any thoughts on the process itself and/or has a favorite I'd love to hear from you.

As I always say, I have to go with those wonderful straight on shots (2, 5, 7). Something about them that feel perfect. That last one is really cool. You captured it brilliantly. What a story. I love looking at it. I do enjoy your combining this technique with the rain and the lights. It works so well together! Looking forward to your next blog post!

Thanks Jenny, as always, I appreciate the feedback.

I also think a single subject/'straight on' shots seem to be suited best to the technique but continue to explore as I feel variety is needed and who knows what might result.

As for the blog - I thought I had finished with this project but will be adding to that to include this series. I'll let you know when it is live, but will likely include many of these images.

BTW - the last one is a little different from the others but uses the same technique. This has an Olga Karlovac vibe to me, which was purely unintentional.

I just checked out Olga Karlovac. That's for sure! You nailed it. Wow!
