I have to admit it's been a while since I used the Orton effect as I don't take too many landscapes (in which it shines).
I believe the last time I looked there were a few different options - if I recall the original (Michael Orton) process was to duplicate the image and blur that layer in PS, and add an amount of contrast to the base layer. Is that the process you used?
The effect definitely adds punch to the greens in your image.
BTW - what tripod are you using? I may have the same one (I'd have to wipe the dust off to check :-)
Yes. Blur and Contrast layers.
The one in the water is a 3-Legged Thing ~ Winston 2.0 holding the R5. The photo was taken with the R mounted on 3-Legged Thing ~ Billy (Punk series).
Another try.
Is the Saturation boosted too high?
Yowza! Depends on what you're looking for really, but it certainly doesn't look natural.
Oddly enough, I came across an image w/Orton effect I had exported recently for some reason - can't remember why but thought I'd share.
