Alan Brown's picture

One subject, two cameras

Some time ago I posted the first image, captured as a series of images on an iPhone and layered/blended in PS using the 'Pep Ventosa' approach. Encouraged by Jenny I captured the same subject using my DSLR, processing in a similar manner.

This is not a like/like test as both situations differ (first - early morning light with little foot traffic, second - busy afternoon period).

Distinct differences might be seen, but it should be noted that greater processing effort was afforded to the second to help preserve the essence of the subject and isolate from the background.

Just passing on the result of this experiment, any viewpoints/preferences are always welcomed.

I like the subject and both are great.

Photo #1: The colors! The textures like a blender...the smooth at the bottom while the top still contains a more coarse section of the subject.

Photo #2: I like the symmetry showing people running around and enhanced through the use of Time and Information being ignored.

Thanks for the feedback Dean.

Both stand on their own for sure. I do really like the DSLR one with all the busyness - like a merry-go-round of being. I know you weren't presenting a like/like; but now that I see all the energy in the second, I think I prefer that over the first in the ITR style. One question I wasn't sure about - "... greater processing effort was afforded to the second to help preserve the essence of the subject and isolate from the background." Why was this the case - because the first was done in-camera (phone app) while the second had to be done OOC (Photoshop)?

Thanks Jenny. Both images were layered in Photoshop. However, with the business around the second I felt the need to restore some of the detail in the subject as it was getting lost in the background.

This was likely compounded by additional frame/layers used in the image.

Does that make sense?

I see now. That makes sense. Thanks.
