I find winter a difficult time to find ICM inspiration, at least in the New England region of the US. The landscape is bland, with fields covered by covered by snow and the leaves off the majority of the trees.
However, I think it important that we push ourselves, both in the boundaries of past accomplishments and also to experiment with the new.
Attached are a few images I took of lights in a park over the Christmas period. This was purely experimental for me, and as can be seen a variety of ICM techniques were used to varying effect.
As always, sincere comments (whether positive or negative) are appreciated and treated as a gift. Which do you find particularly successful (or complete failures) - do you have suggestions on how to improve?
If willing to further discussion, let us know what ICM you have been shooting this winter, what are your favorite winter subjects, and what have you experimented with recently? (feel free to start a new discussion on this)
Hi Alan, I saw your notice and have just joined this group. I hope it's ok if I do not jump in straight away as I'm a bit slow finding my feet. Looking forward to interacting/ uploading and contributing more soon as I'm hoping to get more involved online this year.
I absolutely love your Xmas ICM images. Each stand out individually as compositions and the colours are just perfect showing each at their best for the festive season. Love the first one especially with the movement and colours almost hypnotising to look at.
Very beautiful set👍
Thanks for your extremely generous comments Debbie.
Please don’t feel a need to rush, discussions will wait until you’ve ready.
I have been on fstoppers for a number of years, I am looking forward to seeing a greater ICM presence.
Hi Alan, I just joined today having seen your post on FB. I was disappointed that the list of genres on FStoppers doesn't include Creative so I have tagged my ICM images as Experimental... is that what others are doing?
Thanks for joining us Rose. Although Stephanie created this group so long ago there has really been a shortage of ICM artists on the site - this is something we are eager to change.
That said, there is a general acceptance for ICM amongst members, I have always found appreciation for my work.
Your work looks great BTW, feel free to start a new discussion if you have some to say/ask, or continue to contribute to others (we want to hear your voice!)
And yes, I typically tag my images as experimental (although I'm unsure if it matters....).
Nice to be here. Look forward seeing some creative icm images
I am looking to seeing some of your own Cheryl - feel free to start a new discussion if you'd like to show off your creations, desire feedback or just want to chat about a particular subject etc.
