Mo Kyaw's Journey Of Hope

I spent yesterday with one of the coolest, fun, curios, kind, joyful, generous, silly, smart, mazing kids I’ve had the chance to work with in a long long time. Mo Kyaw was severely burnt when he was only a few days old and faces a lifetime of challenges as a result. But with the help from some amazing people in the leading hospital in Myanmar he has lots of support and love in his journey of hope. He is doing well after the first of several skin, muscle, and bone grafts to help restore some of the functionality and appearance to his face.

I think the key to unlocking this image is the smile on the mother's face. That is the gesture that conveys that although uncomfortable it is OK as a viewer to become involved in this tragedy.

What a brave little boy - we all wish him well. And well done telling this tale in such a humane way.
