Tim Burton (Fanal, Madeira, Portugal)

The conditions are ever changing at the great place in the Fanal area at Madeira, Portugal. With clouds coming in at this altitude of above 1.000 m it allows for play with light and the amazing trees which are many hundreds of years old and show the wear and tear of nature. This image might look heavily processed but isn't, simply because the moment itself provided so much mood and drama. Reminding me on Tim Burton movies and making this the fitting name for this image.

Kai, or Vincent Ward / What dreams may come, came to my mind, a scene were one of the wife’s painting of a beautiful tree on a lush hill dies as a storm rages leaving a bare tree much as you have here.

I don’t think your image look heavily processed at all, when you get things correct in camera an image doesn’t need much work in post. As I have referred to how I process images is “optimizes (digital data) for printing”. I began shooting film, so you needed to get what you wanted on the spot from composition to exposure in camera, in the field. In the mid 90’s I began learning (self-taught) digitally scanning these images on an entry level PC and a shareware (photoshop equivalent) program for about 10 years when a larger company bought the program.

Nice body of work keep it going. Peace
