Portrait Adella

This was actually a test shot of my daughter. Lit on camera left with 36" octa, and on camera right a light pointing at backdrop. A bit of natural light for fill. Editing in ACR and photoshop. Nikon D750, 85mm, f/5, 1/200, ISO100. My work is inspired by Renaissance old master paintings so my lighting will reflect that look.

wow very powerful, if this is only the test shot, then cant wait for the actual one

Thanks!

I cannot imagine the time in post that you spend achieving this painterly look but it is worth every minute and hour. This is amazing!

Thank you! It actually doesn't take that long :)

amazing shot !

Thanks so much I really appreciate it! :)

Beautiful lighting and colour palette which really complement each other, and the pose. I like the post production too. Beautiful all round.

Thank you!

Amazing photograph!

Thanks!

You are so talented, your photos do look like the work of old masters.

Thank you!

It doesn't need a better model. I love it just the way it is. You might have overly smoothed her face, and I personally would have used more contrast and saturation, but that's just me. The color and lighting seem perfect to me. I like the very direct interaction of model with camera.

With a little more contrast, it would neatly fit this fine art technique.

But even at the current contrast, I feel that it still meets the following wikipedia definition of a variant of the technique:
"It is also a technical term used by artists and art historians for the use of contrasts of light to achieve a sense of volume in modelling three-dimensional objects and figures."

outstanding!!! I created this account just so I can follow you and comment! beautiful portrait!
