Twin Sea Spirits

I have been working with fluids for a while now and am always trying to improve my technique. Most fluid photographers prefer heavy fluids but I like the ephemeral, water-based inks. They have an ethereal quality that appeals to me even though the outcome can sometimes be soft.

These are done in my 'studio' aka my kitchen. I have a fish tank set up with a series of lights. The inks are water based and therefore I mix them with some cream to make them opaque and have some staying power. The set up of prepping the thickened water, inks and lighting take far longer than the shots!

Gorgeous! I'm a sucker for beauty, Ruth, and this is exquisite. Ethereal, as you say. Love that soft opalescent glow, and that graceful flow in the forms. One of the best of your inks.

I don't know the subtleties of your technique, but it is producing different, more refined works over time, so your efforts are paying off handsomely..

It is a lot about the learning and experimenting for me. I've been getting into the chemistry of this and am loving it! Thanks so much for the encouragement right from the start through these.
