The compelling element in this photograph, for me, is the tire tracks just above the woman. These crude tracks function as a kind of "reminder" that Coney Island Beach is a rough place, a place beyond its time. Of the hundreds of photographs I have taken at Coney Island, I consider this to be one of the best.
