Lanner Falcon 2

We found a group of five Lanner Falcons momentarily perched in a tree in the South Luangwa National Park. They were very dark against the very bright afternoon sky. I took several images in a burst with the idea of processing them as an exposure stacked image. But I liked this single low key image the best out of the images in the stack.

I took the image with a Canon 7D Mark II with a Canon EF 200 - 400 mm f/4L IS Extender lens. The exposure settings were 1/2000 sec at f/5.6, ISO 400, 560 mm, hand held.

Excellent compensation between the white background and the bird. Sharpness, color and composition very well achieved.
congratulations and my like

Thanks Mariano!

I particularly appreciate your comment given my prior experience with the image. I posted an earlier version on fstoppers about 4 months ago. It did not do very well. After thinking about it, I agreed with the reviewers. I started over with a completely different crop and post processing approach. Camera raw is awesome, but it is a two edged sword. It leaves me wanting to go back and re-edit every image! In this case, I think it was the right choice. Thanks again! Bob
