This past winter, Ottawa experienced a very long and drawn out winter. Even in late March and early April, the high temperatures were only a few degrees above freezing with much of the ground still snow-covered. This all changed for two days encompassing the Easter long weekend in Ottawa, when temperatures rose to the mid-teens (upper 50s in degrees F). With this photograph, I am evoking heavy snowmelt during the transition from late winter to early spring and washing away this past winter's unusually tight grip.
