Buseu wildlife Adventure

The Adventure
Geier in den Pyrenäen (Unter Geiern)
Es war mein zweites Mal in Buseu (Ein Ort, an dem man alle 5 in Europa beherbergten Geierarten bewunden kann)
It was my second time in Buseu (a place where you can admire all 5 species of vultures in Europe).

The goals of the Project are :

To manage the land to be a (corredor biologic) between the Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu and the Serra de Boumort-Collegats.
To consolidate the area Natura 2000 Alt Pirineu.
To recover the landscape, the species and their living areas.
To consolidate de urban space as a logistical center of the Project using a Pla Especial..
Nowadays, there’s a touristic house (HUTL 000157) that is being used as renting house and as a logistical center of the Project, it is called Casa Felip. The buildings of the village nearby this one, are being preserved because one of the idea is that all of the buildings become renting houses and other parts of the Project in the future.
The Buseus’s project (L’Altre Pallars S.L.) is a part of the XCT (Xarxa de Custòdia del Territori). At the same time all the territory is part of the WE (Wildlife Estates) a project of the ELO European Landowners Organization), the first one in Catalonia and in the biogeographic alpine region in Spain. Buseus’s region is part of the PEIN Alt Pirineu and of the Xarxa Natura 2000 (Alt Pallars region).

The challenge of the Project is to prove that this project can be sustainable not like other that did not succeed in similar conditions.

Currently, Bearded vultures are the rarest vultures in Europe, only occurring in the Pyrenees (around 100 breeding pairs), Corsica (8 pairs), Crete (9-10 breeding pairs), and a reintroduced population in in the Alps (20 breeding pairs). The total population in Europe (including Turkey and Russia) is estimated at 600 to 1000 pairs.
