The alps in Europe are stretching 1,200 kilometres across eight alpine countries: Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Slovenia and Switzerland. In 2019 I spent all my free time to create this timelapse movie, travelling roughly 5,000 kilometres across most of those countries to find the most beautiful spots in the Alps. Some of the better-known places I visited were the Dolomites in Italy, Zermatt with the famous Matterhorn mountain in Switzerland, the Zugspitze – Germanys highest mountain and the Mount Blanc region in the French alps. During this year I also not only travelled a lot, I took around 50,000 photos resulting in approximately one terabyte of data.
Here are some facts about this time-lapse project:
Distance travelled (by car): 5,000 kilometres
Photos taken: 50,000 (20 megabyte per photo, 1 terabyte overall)
Highest altitude visited: 3,883 meters on the Klein Matterhorn, Switzerland
Money spent on gondola tickets: ~400 Euros :(
