What It's Like to Go Full-Time on YouTube

For many photographers, videographers, and creatives, the dream career is something along the lines of being paid to fly around the world and create content while maintaining an active and successful Internet presence. This landscape photographer seems to have achieved that, and in this video, he talks about the process, his daily life, and his sources of income.

By now, you've probably heard of Thomas Heaton. He's a talented landscape photographer whose realistic inside look at the struggles and triumphs of the genre have gained him a loyal following of over 150,000 subscribers. In this video, he talks about taking the plunge into being a full-time creative, more specifically, one who generates a large portion of their income from YouTube and associated ventures. It's a complicated web that requires the ability to successfully juggle multiple projects simultaneously. However, it's also apparent that Heaton is living his dream and has come to accept the uncertainty that this sort of career is fraught with while simultaneously using hard work and passion (which he notes are the two most important things) to get himself to a place of creative success and the ability to sustain himself financially. It's worth a watch if you're considering such a move yourself.

Hi Alex, this is so British....having a grumble when life sucks, on the odd occasion, while having a dream career. I was listening to Ian Anderson, Jethro Tull fame, and he was taking about living in cold bedsit....and going hungry....while trying to make a living out of writing and performing music.

I have a good friend who recently mentioned how the whole "find your dream job and you'll never work a day in your life" thing is false. I think he's right.

You can't not love this guy!

Agreed!
