What's New in Lightroom?

Lightroom version 13 is here, and continuing the trend of recent releases, it brings with it some major changes and new features that you will want to be aware of so you can get the most from the program and your image edits. If you have not checked out the latest version yet, check out this excellent video that will show you all the new features and how to use them to work on your images.

Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this helpful video will show you everything you need to know about the latest version of Lightroom. While recent iterations have focused on things like AI and masking, this new version brings some different features. Perhaps the most exciting is the new "Point Color" section. Adjusting the hue, saturation, and luminance of a single color and nearby similar colors used to be a bit of a pain, but this feature allows you to zero in on an exact color (or range of colors) and adjust things just as you would like, which is a feature that should be appreciated by photographers of all sorts of genres. That is just one of the new features, though, so check out the video above for the full rundown from Morganti.

An important notice for all users of Negative Lab Pro:

Do NOT upgrade to Lightroom Classic v13.0 just yet..

"Why shouldn't I upgrade to LrC v13.0?"

There is a bug with the SDK in LrC v13.0 that prevents Negative Lab Pro (and other development-based plugins) from making changes to tone curves. Until this bug is addressed by Adobe, all versions of Negative Lab Pro will NOT work in LrC v13.0.

"When will this be fixed?"

Adobe is aware of the issue and it has been escalated internally, so fingers crossed that it can be fixed soon. (This sort of thing has happened once before, and Adobe handled it very quickly).

I will send out an update email when I can verify that this has been fixed, and it is safe to update LrC.
