New Rumors on Canon T4i Touchscreen Info and Specs

A boatload of new unconfirmed information has been leaked through Canon Rumors regarding the new Canon T4i/650D slated for release this year. Many of you expressed concern over how you thought the touchscreen would perform, and now we are beginning to see all the pieces fall together. Select focus points, zoom and crop, and select your settings from the Q menu that, honestly, was yearning for touch since its introduction.

Canon EOS Rebel T4i/650D Touchscreen Information

  • With a simple touch menu selection and auto-focus area selection, zooming in and out of an image is more convenient.
  • Clearview LCD makes for easy viewing even in bright outdoor light.
  • Swivel LCD for self portraits, high-angle, and low angle shots (personally, I think this is a really handy feature and makes shooting video remarkably simpler)
  • Touch-button operation can be used simultaneously with standard button operation, depending on the preference of the user.

Again, this is all still rumor and speculation, but considering the detail I would not be surprised of nearly all of it was spot on. So with all that said, are you interested? Will you be picking one up as a backup still camera, or maybe as a second video camera? The video quality out of the T3i is fantastic, so we can expect the same or better out of the T4i. Let us know in the comments below!

I REALLY hope that this touchscreen is intelligently done. The first thing i do when shooting, is cramming my nose on the screen so if it keep screwing up focus point, etc.... not cool!

Well, I had an XSi, and it uses the LCD to display all the information (ISO, aperture, etc). There's a proximity sensor so that when you press your face to it, it turns off the LCD, and then turns it back on when you pull your face away. I'd imagine that it's just as easy to disable the touchscreen at the same time.

I'm in a pre-preorder mode today.

Moderately stupid question: Can someone point out the differences between this and the t3i besides the touchscreen? Looks almost the same to me.

Stereo Microphone with Noise Cancellation
Autofocus in Video [Silent if used with the new STM lenses]
New way to start Video mode
Higher ISO Range [12800 with 25600 H1] with cleaner results [And promised "True blacks even at high ISO"
DIG!C 5 Processor
5 Frames/second shooting speed.

yeah touch screen maybe trade in 60D which has been a disappointment

they need to bring manual audio on the 7d and stop giving the lower models all the nice video features, it all about  firmware

It's not so much a rumor anymore seeing as it's been announced!
