This image was taken close to my hometown Hafnarfjordur. I love taking photos of horses in their natural environment in all kinds of weather conditions. This photo was taken on a cold, bright and beautiful day in March when there was still a little snow on the ground which reflected well the light from the low sun, so the lighting on the horses was very good. I have often tried to frame a horse with another horse(s) but the results have not always been acceptable, but this time I was very pleased with the outcome. I had to lie in the snow for some time because the horses were so friendly that they kept coming too close to me and the camera. But my patience this time lead to a good result when suddenly all came together for just a short moment. And it was well rewarded because the image won the overall prize in the "Digital Camera Magazine" competition 2009.
