This blazing sunset only lasted for about 15 minutes until the extremely fast moving clouds blocked out the light in a complete white-out. I managed to setup and capture this long exposure image just before the light vanished!
I stayed up at the top of Point Dume for another hour in hopes of the clouds clearing before the sun descended below the horizon, but the gray cloud cover stayed put. It all worked out, however, since this image is definitely one of my favorites!
To capture the entire dynamic range of the scene, I blended one 30 second exposure for the sky taken with a Lee Big Stopper and a 1/15 second exposure for the foreground.
