A Review of the Affordable 7Artisans 15mm f/4 Lens

7Artisans has gained a reputation for making extremely affordable lenses, and while that sometimes means you may have to take a hit in image quality, the 15mm f/4 produces surprisingly good results without breaking that trend of low cost. This excellent video review takes a look at the lens and if its results are right for your needs.

Coming to you from Arthur R, this great video review takes a look at the 7Artisans 15mm f/4 lens. Coming in at only $359, the 15mm f/4 is rather affordable. Nonetheless, it still comes with a nice array of features, including:

  • Mounts: Canon RF, Sony E, Leica L, Nikon Z
  • 13 elements in 9 groups
  • Low-distortion design with two aspherical elements for reduced distortion and improved sharpness
  • Three ED low dispersion elements
  • Five high refraction elements
  • Reduced coma for astrophotography
  • 10-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh
  • Clicked aperture
  • Minimum focusing distance: 40 cm
  • Weight: 536 g

Of course, one thing that helps keep the cost of the lens and its size down is the lack of autofocus. However, for a 15mm lens with a relatively narrow maximum aperture, this is rarely an issue due to the large depth of field, but even so, the focus assistance features of modern mirrorless cameras will help to mitigate this. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
