It's time to see what the community thinks of your automotive photography. Submit your best three images now and receive feedback from your peers.

In our next episode of Critique the Community, we will be selecting twenty automotive images to provide feedback to. The highest average community rated image will receive a free Fstoppers original tutorial of their choice. We will also give one tutorial away to a random entrant.

Once you've added your images to the contest, scroll through the rest of the submissions and provide some feedback of your own. Use the Fstoppers rating system below to assign a numerical rating to each photo. Then, as this contest is meant to help each other grow as photographers, take some time to leave comments on images when you notice areas where they could be improved. Please keep your comments encouraging.

Thanks to David Fulde for the featured image.

Agreed - worth noting that a 3, i.e. portfolio worthy, should be a shot you could use to secure work. There are lots of different avenues in which a car shot could secure you work - racing, private and dealership sales, street and performance vehicles, other peripheral industries like portraits and sports and so on. For the majority of those, a shot doesnt need to look like a Mercedes Benz ad. Though I agree there are a lot of 2s, a 3 isnt on the pedestal everyone seems to be putting it on - and there are VERY few shots rated above 3 in this contest.

I just hope that at least on of the reviewers in the show will be a petrolhead, or at least like cars / motorsport etc.. I know it's all about the photo itself but if you don't like cars at all / have no clue of them, I think you cannot criticize them properly.

Hi, just wanted to say on my behalf and other contestars, some of you voters are egocentric pieces of amateur photography crap that are uncapable of putting your differences aside and being honest with yourselves and others .
Thanks

What is that in regards to Thom? Are people down voting your images?

Not my in particular but other photographers with truly high quality images getting 2/3 stars. Seems like some people are down voting just to influence there own outcome. Anyway..its my first time here so maybe i don’t get it

Why is it every time a contest is posted we get the same moaning and groaning from peeps.

Because of the way this is structured, I don't consider this as a competition. It's more of a showcase of one's images in a selected category.

'Liked' contests have never been a reliable way of judging. Too many variable like spamming from solicited friends and in this case, down-voting.

I'm always open to constructive criticism. Why one wouldn't be if it's going to help improve your images.

I had one voter make me aware of the isometric view on my composition entry. I have never heard of this term and I actually had to look it up. I mainly shoot fashion portraits so when I shoot some other subject, it is a rarity.

Because of this comment, when I shoot a car again, I will be very aware of making sure I improve my isometric view so the next automotive competition, I might get to 3 stars. LOL

I had one voter who liked the same image and commented that he up-voted me. I believe he was a very nice gentleman! :)

Yes, lots of peeps are down-voting but it still evens out as EVERYONE is being down-voted.

When I vote, I give out 3, 4 and 5's. Anything I consider less than a 3, I don't bother.

I agree. Every time. Everyone always blames f stoppers for not “fixing” the problem. There’s really no way to fix it. It doesn’t really bother me anyway. I just personally like to see if I’m headed in the right direction with my work. People have to learn to weed out the bad cc and take in the good cc. It’s all in good fun. Your work is insanely amazing by the way.

Thanks Tyler. You just can't take this type of thing to heart

I'm with you Tyler!

damn! I didn't see that. i've got several cool pics from Le Mans 2019. (((

Saw your portfolio, this competition would've been perfect for you.

GOOD LORD your portfolio photos are sensational!!

F

Well, lucky for the rest of us you missed it! :)

Why are there such low ratings for every photo? If youre gonna give it a low rating then tell them how they can improve. You guys are so critical but have nothing to say to back it up. Makes me think you rate low just to do it.

Can we all just take a moment of silence for the fact that Roman Lavrov didn't enter this contest :(

I feel the way the rating system is set up, the ratings will always be low. If they maybe took an approach to 1 star = Not portfolio worthy, 2 thru 5 represents a low grade vs high grade portfolio picture. Then have WC rating for World Class Submissions.

Just a thought

I went back to see how I voted for your F1 photo. And I also remember why I voted it up. I have recently been and photographed gliders takeoff. So I know it is hard to get a fully successful photo with the camera and with a proper background. With Photoshop, however, it's possible to create almost anything. So, I liked your picture very much!
