DJI recently released the Avata, and it's made quite the buzz around town. So, how did this experienced drone pilot find flying the DJI Avata for the first time?
I'm currently in the market for a drone because I think that, despite their increasing popularity, they still give viewers the opportunity to see landscapes that might be familiar to them from an entirely unique perspective. Sure, drones aren't new and the novelty might have worn off for some, but my thinking behind getting a drone is that the still image possibilities are still very much untapped, particularly where I live. Here, most drone pilots exclusively shoot videos, which they upload to Instagram and the like, so I think there is still a yawning gap to explore. For that reason, I'm in the middle of researching every drone out there.
And that brings us to this great video by Jake Sloan, in which he reviews his first experience flying the newly released DJI Avata. Sloan is a very experienced drone pilot, so it was interesting to see his first reaction when he put on the goggles (called Goggles 2) that are included with the DJI Avata. To say his reaction and summation of the Goggles 2 was enthusiastic and positive would be very conservative. But what about his flying experiences? I'll let you be the judge, but if you're an owner of the older DJI FPV drone, then you might want to start saving your pennies. Let me know your thoughts on the new DJI Avata.
