The Unveiling
Alpen Glow -I will be honest, until recently I was completely unaware of this natural phenomena.

The light, the color of the mountains and on the scattered clouds is vivid and real.

Fellow photographer and I, were crazy enough to hike in the wilderness alone in the dead of the night to reach this place in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

As we made our way to reach this spot, we couldn't help but stare back at the smoldering, firey sunrise taking place. Egged on by this, we barely made it to the spot.

As the sun rose, the light cutting through the clouds, lifted the curtains and we became the first audience to the light show playing in front of us.

Quoting from Wiki:

"Alpenglow (from German: Alpenglühen, Italian: Enrosadira) is an optical phenomenon that appears as a horizontal reddish glow near the horizon opposite of the Sun when the solar disk is just below the horizon. This effect is easily visible when mountains are illuminated, but can also be seen when clouds are lit through backscatter."

I like the way the stones in the foreground pick up the shape of the mounatain

It looks like the red channel has clipped areas...
