When I started with photography and landscape photography in particular I always wondered how fanatic photographers can become, when it comes to light and colors. I just thought they exaggerate.
But I quickly learned it´s not all about an iconic or unique subject you wanna capture. It´s more like to show the subject in its best in terms of lights and colors. Once I read a quote like „photography is like painting with light“ – unfortunately I can’t remember the author. But this little line opened my eye and improved my skills to the next level.

And since I get excited as a child at christmas when clouds reveal beautiful textures and burning lights at sunrise or sunset just like in this image then I must confess I became such a fanatic nerd like all the other photographers.

While I took this image I sat back, drank some red wine and let the camera do the whole work. I thought in a silent moment „let´s see what the night sky has to offer tonight“. I used photopills to locate some stars and the milky way. When I noticed the galactic center would take place right behind the mountain range I knew this is going to be be a very short night … but more on this later.
