This is one of the iconic scenes of Canadian Rockies, although capturing it was never easy. Winter weather in the mountains was brutal, and the uncertainty of the freight train's schedule made it even worse. I took this shot on my second try to the spot when the light and direction of the train were just about right after two hours of waiting in the freezing temperature.
I was fortunate enough to get away with the photo I'm happy with and keep all my toes.
Well worth the effort! It has it all. The sun break hitting the valley, leading lines of the tracks, and the clouds rolling over the mountain. Magical!
